Scrappy

Scrappy is a young 8-year-old, 15-pound bundle of joy.  He is in excellent health and is current on his vaccinations.  He loves the attention of his humans and is excellent around other dogs and kids.  Scrappy likes to run and play in the yard where he enjoys chasing birds, squirrels, and the occasional cat who stops by to visit.  Though Scrappy likes other animals, he would do best in a home with only one or two other pets.  He can get a bit nervous when there are many animals in the house.   He is potty trained, and a perfect gentleman.   Scrappy likes playing with his squeaky toys and is always looking for a "Scrappy" game tug-of-war with his humans.  He loves to cuddle, but also likes to curl up in his bed to take a nap.  In the past, Scrappy had some small tumors on his chest and legs.  They were surgically removed over a year ago, he is doing great and the tumors have not returned.  If Scrappy does develop any more tumors in the future, they will need to be surgically removed.

Scrappy is being fostered in Tampa, but can be adopted anywhere in Florida.

Jack

Jack is a calm older gentleman, at 14 years old.  He is very laid back, he sleeps most of the day.  He doesn't mind taking a short walk, but not too long.  He loves food!  He takes his blankets and burrows under them until he is completely covered from head to toe and then lays down to sleep.  When you look into his crate it just looks like a pile of blankets.  He gets along with other dogs, and doesn't seem to pay any attention to the cats and peacocks in his foster mom's neighborhood.  He is good around kids, although he will try to steal food from a child's hand when the opportunity presents itself.  He seems to be a little hard of hearing, so you have to say his name loud to get his attention. His foster mom has been using hand signals to get him to come or go in his crate.  Jack is not much of a cuddler, but he likes being pet and he will let you know when he wants to be pet.  He follows his foster mom all through the house!  Jack would love to spend his golden years with YOU, so please consider giving him your love.

Jack is being fostered in Ft. Lauderdale, but can be adopted anywhere in the state of Florida.

Brinkley

Brinkely  is 9 years old, and her foster mom describes her as a "love."  She is very sweet and timid girl, and loves to please her humans.   She is a mellow girl, but occasionally gets the zoomies and will run around the house.  She loves people and wants to eagerly greet everyone she sees on her daily walks in the park.  She gets along wonderfully with her foster siblings.  Brinkley is a little chunky, but she is trying to shed those extra pounds.  In addition to diet and exercise, she recently began taking thyroid medication which should also help to control her weight.  She is a sneaky girl and will jump up to get any food that is on the counter or table (or in the trash can), so you must stay one step ahead of her and keep all food put away.  Her potty habits are very good, and she is used to having a doggy door.  Brinkley usually starts the evening out on the bed with her foster parents, but after an hour or so she jumps off and goes to lie in her own bed.  She is usually the first one up and takes herself out for a potty break, then comes back to bed and patiently waits for everyone else to wake up.  We believe that Brinkley's past may not have been the kindest, if you don't approach her slowly she will shy away.  She wants a loving home to live out her golden years.  Brinkley would do best in a quiet home with no young kids.

Brinkley is being fostered in Indian Harbor Beach, but can be adopted anywhere in the state of FL.

George

George is a very sweet, cuddly boy with an outgoing personality. He is 10 years old and weighs 12 lbs. but has the energy of a much younger dog! He is super affectionate and loves to snuggle with his humans. He and his sister were surrendered when their owners could no longer afford to care for them properly. He is up to date with all vaccines, and tested heartworm negative. He has had dental issues, which are common with most IG's, but that does not interfere with his eating at all as long as his food is softened with water.  He has good potty manners as long as he is kept on a schedule. He loves to play, especially with his stuffy toys, and loves snuggle up with his blanket. He gets along well with other dogs, both big and small, but likes to be the "man" of the house, so might do best in a home with no other small dogs or small children.

George is being fostered in Palm Bay, but can be adopted anywhere within the state of Florida.

Grace

Grace is a very sweet girl. She is 8 yrs old and weighs 11.5 lbs. She is somewhat shy at first, and trembles a bit (that is sign of her being nervous),  but her loving and playful personality quickly shine through. She loves to cuddle with her humans. She and her brother were surrendered when their owners could no longer afford to care for them properly. She is up to date with all vaccines, and tested heartworm negative. She has had dental issues, which are common with most IG's, but that does not interfere with her eating at all as long as her food is softened with water. She is not a big eater and can be a little finicky at times and does not like other dogs around when she is eating. She has good potty manners as long as she is kept on a schedule and given plenty of time to do her business. She gets along well with other dogs, both big and small.

Grace is being fostered in Palm Bay, but can be adopted anywhere in the state of Florida.

 Chase - Adoption Pending

An absolute sweetheart, Chase is affectionate and quiet.  His favorite activities include cuddling under the covers and watching TV with his humans.  He loves to give hugs by placing his paws on your shoulders.  He is looking for his forever home where he will get to go on walks and live as a close member of the family.  Chase is 6 years old, but he is convinced that he can offer just as much love as a puppy.  Chase has basis obedience skills and is potty trained.  He has a good nature and good temperament, and would be a wonderful companion for anyone.  He loves children, dogs and everyone he meets.  Chase has fallen on hard times, when his family did not have the time to care for him anymore.  When Chase came entered rescue, he had a tumor on his chest.  We had it removed and biopsied, and it was malignant.  If any tumors grow in the future, he will need to have them surgically removed.  The tumors grow due to UV exposure, so Chase cannot stay outside sunbathing and will need to wear sunscreen when going out for walks or to play.  But his gentle, nurturing soul still shines through.  Chase is looking for a caring and compassionate home who will love him unconditionally.  Once you meet him, you will forget about his special needs.  Do you have room in your heart for this sweet boy?

Update (4/15/11) - Thanks to a grant from the wonderful folks at The Dog and Cat Cancer Fund, Chase will begin chemotherapy soon.

Update (9/22/11) - Chase has begun his chemotherapy treatment.  We are hopeful that this will help him.

Chase is being fostered in Apopka, but can be adopted anywhere in the state of FL.
